Who we are

WHO WE ARE

The Mentoring and Empowerment Programme for Young Women (MEMPROW) is a feminist organisation that brings together girls and young women (14-29) from across the African region and works to provide the skills and knowledge that they need to become successful, confident and self-reliant individuals. MEMPROW’s feminist agenda is to shift negative patriarchal mindsets; empower and give young women ‘voice’ and agency to challenge and transform patriarchy as the structural cause of violence, exclusion and discrimination against women. We believe that building a generation of young women who are informed, self-assured, independent and healthy is important in building a strong feminist movement and a catalyst for transforming gender relations. We are doing this through skills training, advocacy and movement building, research and documentation and counseling. Our mentoring approach also provides spaces for peer and inter-generational learning
