2) The MEMPROW Girls' Network: A Model for Feminist Movement Building
Through a Girl-Centered Approach
Since Inception MEMPROW, a Mentoring and Empowerment Program for Young Women, has successfully positioned itself as a cornerstone in building a robust feminist movement through its girl-centered approach while prioritizing the needs, Voice and Choices of young women and Girls resulting into not only a revitalized network but also a sustainable platform for advocacy, leadership, and collective action.
At the core of MEMPROW's strategy is a comprehensive program design for the Network focused on peer mentoring, collective organizing, and safe space creation rooted in the understanding that young women and Girls are agents of change. This approach is underpinned by a strong emphasis on Young women /feminist leadership development. Through rigorous conversations and training, MEMPROW has cultivated a cadre of young women leaders equipped to drive social change through the feminist lens.
On the other hand, the Network’s implementation strategy involves a multifaceted approach. Peer mentoring fosters personal and leadership growth, while collective organizing empowers young women and Girls to advocate for their rights and create positive social impact. Safe spaces provide essential platforms for healing, learning, and activism.
This Girls Network has strengthened our commitment to continuous improvement reflected in robust monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) framework where involving young women in all stages of program development and implementation is paramount to ensure that our initiatives remain responsive to their evolving needs and fosters a culture of ownership and accountability.
