Reflecting on Our Participation in CUEA's Discussions on Peace and Environment
From August 12-16, MEMPROW had the privilege of participating in a series of impactful discussions on peace and the environment at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA). This event provided a valuable platform for MEMPROW to engage with a diverse group of stakeholders, including environmentalists, gender advocates, academics, and policymakers, all united in their commitment to fostering a just and sustainable world.
Our involvement in these discussions underscores our dedication to climate justice and gender equality. At MEMPROW, we firmly believe that achieving a sustainable future necessitates inclusive solutions that address the unique challenges faced by women and girls. Our Programs Director contributed to the dialogue by sharing insights on the critical connection between gender equality and environmental sustainability and emphasizing the importance of involving women and girls in climate advocacy and peacebuilding efforts.
The conversations at CUEA were both enlightening and inspiring. They reinforced the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing in addressing global challenges such as climate change and peacebuilding. As we engaged with other thought leaders and organizations, it became evident that each of us has a vital role to play in promoting sustainable development.
A key takeaway from the discussions was the pressing need for inclusive policies that consider the perspectives of marginalized communities, particularly women and girls. As champions for social change, we are committed to amplifying these voices and ensuring that their needs are integrated into climate and peace policies.
At MEMPROW, our commitment to climate justice and gender equality extends beyond this event. We remain steadfast in our mission to empower young women and girls as leaders and advocates for a sustainable future. Through continued collaboration with our partners and stakeholders, we strive to create a more inclusive and equitable world for all.
We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to these critical discussions and look forward to advancing our work towards a more just and sustainable world. For more updates on our programs and activities, please stay connected with us.
