Launch of 'Women's Voice and Leadership' Project in Arua

On August 21st, MEMPROW, in collaboration with CARE Uganda, successfully launched the 'Women's Voice and Leadership' project in Arua District. This landmark initiative is designed to strengthen the capacities of local Women's Rights Organizations (WROs) and Women/Youth-Led Organizations (W/YLOs), enhancing their ability to deliver essential services and ensuring that women have access to protection, comprehensive sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services, and economic programs that support sustainable livelihoods and entrepreneurial activities.

The project centers on two key objectives: first, to build the capabilities of WROs, W/YLOs, and their networks in delivering high-quality services that provide women with protection and access to critical SRH services. Moreover, it aims to empower women through economic programs that encourage livelihood development and foster entrepreneurial ventures, thereby promoting economic independence and improving overall well-being.

Secondly, the project is focused on strengthening the capacity of WROs and W/YLOs to undertake joint policy-influencing and advocacy initiatives. These initiatives are vital for driving policy changes that advance women's health and economic rights, including enhancing their participation, decision-making capabilities, and amplifying their voices to achieve greater gender equality in Uganda.

This project marks a significant step towards empowering local organizations and communities to effect lasting change. By enhancing the capacity of these organizations to advocate for and provide essential services, we are committed to fostering a future where women and girls can thrive in a safe, equitable environment. We are eager to witness the positive impacts of this partnership in transforming the lives of women and girls in Arua and beyond.
